A friend showed me his Dad's school Atlas from 1940's England. The ONLY inland "city" apart from Canberra that was marked on the map was Bogan Gate. He claims this was something to do with Bogan Gate being one of several planned relocation centres for the Australian Governmen during WWII. I do know there is (or was) and Army camp nearby.
